The most successful example is the use of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-engineered T cells to treat leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Our translational immune-engineering lab is focused on developing advanced cellular therapies that improve the anti-cancer activity of engineered T cells. This work integrates classical immunology, genomics, protein biochemistry and bioengineering. Common techniques include flow cytometry, DNA and RNA sequencing, gene therapy, CRISPR-based genome editing, synthetic protein design and analysis of blood and tumor samples from patients treated at Barnes Jewish Hospital.
