Job Description Summary:
Department of Microbiology, KUMC is seeking a highly motivated candidate to work in the laboratory of Dr. Tse lab as a Research Technician to study autoimmune responses and ß-cell responses in Type 1 diabetes.
Job Description:
Required Qualifications
Education: Associate’s degree in biological sciences.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in life sciences.
Work Experience:
-
Experience with research involving animals.
-
PCR, Western blot, ELISA, qRT-PCR, immunofluorescence, and flow cytometry.
Skills:
-
Highly motivated to learn, assertive, detail-oriented, organized, can prioritize multiple tasks, and work independently.

Sound judgment, strong analytical skills and exceptional interpersonal skills
Job Duties Outlined
-
Conduct routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established procedures, and record results.

Under the direction of PI and other research staff will perform research with live mouse models and human samples.

Perform collaborative studies with other research laboratories at KUMC.

Participates in maintaining day-to-day laboratory operation that includes ordering supplies, cleanup, routine animal maintenance, and maintenance of equipment.

Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor and other research staff.

Compliance: Attend and maintain compliance on all orientation and training sessions designated by the University and the Microbiology Department, understand and follow IACUC, animal, and biosafety protocols, and attend regular lab meetings.

Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
