Start date is (expected to be) 1 March 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.

About us
The position will be part of the Center for Hybrid Quantum Networks (Hy-Q), which develops foundational photonic quantum hardware with long term applications within quantum network and quantum computing. Hy-Q is headed by Professor Peter Lodahl and comprises about 50 students and postdocs working on a diverse range of research projects with focus on optical experiments but also involving nanofabrication and quantum theory.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for candidates within the field of quantum physics or related areas. Applicants can have any background within quantum and laser physics and engineering, but it is a particular advantage to have experience in experimental quantum optics.

We are seeking an experienced quantum photonic research technician or research consultant for the development of high-quality quantum photonic systems. You will be focusing on supporting, maintaining, and help designing state-of-the-art quantum optics experiments in close collaboration with the students and research staff within the center.

Responsibilities:

  • Support, maintain, and build quantum photonics experiments, including cryogenics and advanced optical setups.
  • Implement and document experiments, help analyzing data and generating reports.
  • Help managing the use of existing equipment and selecting the equipment for specialized tests.
  • Assist in purchasing and designing new experimental equipment.
  • Implementing and overseeing lab safety procedures.

We expect:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in physics, engineering, nanotechnologies, or related.
  • 2+ years of experimental work with quantum optics and/or cryogenic systems.
  • Proven skills in working with photonics (e.g. lasers, single-photon detectors, spectroscopy, linear and nonlinear optics).
  • Experience with cryogenic equipment (e.g. designing and operating cryostats, electric and/or optical control of cryogenic devices).
  • Experience with modelling, controlling, and analyzing experiments.

We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment.

Terms of salary and employment
The employment is permanent, and salary is made in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
