Research Trainee

The Research Trainee position will provide an opportunity for aspiring researchers to get to work in the research-based environment at icddr,b. This training fellowship is aimed at capable individuals who have recently completed their Masters or primary professional education, are in the career formative stage, and are interested in making a career in public health research. The trainee will be required to perform duties as assigned by the supervisor. The Research Trainees will be reporting to the Associate/Assistant Scientist. S/he will be responsible to –
  • Conduct literature review, analyze data and draw scientific inferences-especially on the above-mentioned topics;
  • Create a detailed research design and methodology to achieve the study objectives;
  • Circulate new protocol drafts internally and externally, seek feedback and modify accordingly;
  • Collect samples from the wastewater, maintain QAQC of the sample and coordinate with the laboratory
  • Coordinate with healthcare professionals, and civil engineers to follow up with project updates
  • Conduct periodic field visits (different hospitals in Dhaka and Cox’s Bazar and migrant workers training centres) for coordination and mitigation of issues.
  • Write study reports and articles for peer-reviewed journals in the relevant field of research;
  • Conduct peer reviews of manuscripts of other researchers to support scientific manuscript creation while developing one’s scientific writing abilities.
  • Required qualifications and experience:
  • Young, bright individuals who meet the following criteria and are aspiring to develop their careers as public health researchers in the research-based environment at icddr,b are encouraged to apply.
  • Master’s degree in Biotechnology from a reputed institute with excellent academic records.
  • Outstanding academic results (at least 3.5 out of 4 scales both in Bachelor and Master) from reputed universities enlisted by the University Grant Commission of Bangladesh (UGC));
  • At least 1-year experience in public health (preferably in environmental science, WASH-in healthcare facility, worked on migrant workers’ health) with strong interpersonal and excellent communication and writing skills in English.
  • Candidates who demonstrate exceptional research skills and/or have publications in international peer-reviewed journals with significant contributions will be given preference.
  • Must have strong critical thinking skills, the ability to identify substantive problems that threaten the research activities and the creative capacity to resolve these problems. S/he should be proactive, dynamic, and capable of working independently.
