Dr. Ebrahimi-Nik’s Laboratory, situated within the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC) and the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology (PIIO), is devoted to unraveling the complex interactions between immune cells and tumor cells, with a particular focus on elucidating the functional dynamics of CD8 T cells that demonstrate tumor-rejecting capabilities.

We are dedicated to comprehending the multifaceted factors that contribute to the persistence and efficacy of tumor rejecting CD8 T cells within the suppressive environment of the tumor. Using a range of cutting-edge techniques including but not limited to single cell RNA sequencing paired with TCR, CRISPR, western blot on rare cells, and other functional experiments we are trying to improve our understanding of tumor immunology.

We’re looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a senior researcher at the OSUCCC and PIIO. The senior researcher will serve as lab manager, functioning as a technical expert in cancer immunology and immunotherapy.

Responsibilities may include working closely with the principal investigator (PI) to develop project goals, execute research experiments independently, and play a major role in the dissemination of research findings. The senior researcher will collaborate with research staff internal and external to the lab, so strong organizational and communication skills are key. Must be able to adapt to new technologies and able to operate in a fast-paced work environment. The senior researcher will have the opportunity to co-author major research papers and participate in national and international conferences.

Education and Experience:

  • Doctoral Degree in biology, biological sciences or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • 5 years relevant experience in biological/health science research capacity required

  • Experience in a progressively responsible administrative capacity preferred

  • Extensive experience planning & developing projects preferred

  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in biomedical science required

  • Requires successful completion of a background check; selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

The OSUCCC – James is the only cancer program in the United States that features a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center aligned with a nationally ranked academic medical center and a freestanding cancer hospital on the campus of one of the nation’s largest public universities. The Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology (PIIO) is a comprehensive bench-to-bedside research initiative focused on harnessing the body’s immune system to fight cancer at all levels —from prevention to treatment and survivorship.

Salary range for this position:$62,700 – $83,600
