Offer Description
Participate to activities associated with the contingent valuation of a series of marine ecosystems, especially based on planktonic ecosystem services.
Deliberative workshops have been performed, the mission is now to contribute to the data analysis of the collected answers by the public and interpret those data
Contribute to the writing and publication of a series of articles based on those data from different angles: i) what main differences can we induce from the data between terrestrial (continental) and marine biodiversity contingent economic assessment? ii) which alternative concepts would it be important to develop in order to capture the specificity of marine ecosystems contributions to human societies sustainability? iii) Should we reverse the perspective and instead of measuring what nature provides us rather consider what we owe to nature, and give an economic assessment of that “debt”; iv) re-interpret the notion of “value” in relation to environmental goods.
Draft policy briefs for different public instances based on the former missions, such as the European Commission, BBNJ negotiations, COP 27.
The missions take place within a large European project: HORIZON-CL6-2021-BIODIV-01-03- BIOOCEAN 5D: ” MARINE BIODIVERSITY ASSESSMENT AND PREDICTION ACROSS SPATIAL, TEMPORAL AND HUMAN SCALES “. The interaction between various teams in this project are to be expected, in particular, around the measurement of marine ecosystem services value. In addition to the publication of articles, public communications in the framework of the project meetings or outside will take place.
