GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department seeks to fill several temporary Reserve Officer positions at the Senior Game Warden level throughout the state. These positions carry out law enforcement responsibilities, wildlife conflict resolution, wildlife depredation investigations, and represent the agency in day-to-day contact with the public and attend training.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.
- Patrols assigned areas to check for violations of game fish and watercraft laws and perform independent investigations.
- Conducts upper-level independent research and extensive analytical evaluations.
- Interacts extensively with the public on a variety of wildlife-related topics and investigates/mitigates wildlife conflict and damage to crops or property by wildlife.
- Collects biological data for use in making recommendations for hunting, trapping, and fishing seasons.
- Conducts training for WGFD team members.
- Conducts background check investigations in support of the Game Warden hiring process.
- Provides assistance at AIS check stations.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
- Preference may be given to applicants who have retired from the department as a Wyoming POST-certified peace officer.
- The agency requires that candidates possess Wyoming POST certification as a Reserve Officer with experience as a Senior Game Warden
- The agency requires that candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in wildlife management, range management, biology, zoology, ichthyology, or other closely related fields. Other bachelor’s degrees may be considered with at least 20 hours of wildlife-related coursework, as evidenced on required transcripts.
**Must have a valid driver’s license
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of basic concepts, principles, and practices of wildlife management.
- Knowledge of animal biological processes.
- Knowledge of game and fish statutes and regulations and enforcement of game and fish laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of wildlife and fish species identification and life history.
- Knowledge of population ecology.
- Knowledge of methods, techniques, and regulations pertinent to the investigation, court procedures, and prosecution of violators in wildlife, hunting or fishing, and watercraft-related criminal cases.
- Ability to safely operate motorized equipment, including 4×4 pickup trucks, boats/personal watercraft, ATVs, and snow machines.
- Ability to safely and appropriately handle live wildlife in a variety of sensitive and hazardous conditions.
- Ability to utilize and handle firearms (enforcement and hunting) and pass Department firearms qualification requirements and testing.
- Ability to perform and pass Department custody/control and intermediate weapons requirements and use of force testing.
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Ability to work independently and the ability to act as an observer from small aircraft.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
