Position Summary

This posting is for an anticipated vacancy with expected start dates in 2024. This posting is for 3 positions.

Provides leadership, management, supervision, and development for a residence hall community under the direction of a Community Director. Responsible for student staff supervision and training, student organization advising, individual student development, coordinating community development and residential curriculum efforts, and administrative and departmental responsibilities. This position also has on-call responsibilities.  The Residence Hall Director position is a live-in position, in a MSU residence hall, and is appointed on an annual basis.

Residence Hall Directors (RD)’s hold daily work-week hours and share on-call duty responsibilities with other staff on Campus. Also, occasional evenings and weekends for meetings, events, trainings, and/or selection processes.

All positions in SLE are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community. 

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in a human services related field, such as in student personnel, counseling, or a related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive professional experience as a director in a residence hall or apartment community; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Description of End Date

This is an off dated position with an end date of 6/30/2024. Notice for re-appointment is provided by May 15th of each calendar year.
