This is your opportunity to showcase your ability to engage and motivate a team of support workers, in a hands-on role working directly with ICLA residents with complex mental health & psychosocial disabilities based in the house you will be responsible for. In addition, you will lead by example, providing person-centered active support and trauma-informed care to ICLA residents, whilst demonstrating ICLA values and purpose.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Mascot home is looking for an organised & emotionally intelligent leader to enable an effective & engaged team in supporting our 3 residents to achieve their goals. Our House Leaders are responsible for leading their team of support workers and managing the operations of their designated residential site, ensuring the needs of the individuals we support are met.

Our Supported Independent Living (SIL) residences provide 24/7 service to an average of 4 residents, providing support in their daily living, building their capacity & independence. This role is working office hours Monday to Friday, with a mix of working from onsite, head office and flexibly, with remuneration commencing from $82,050 per annum (SCHADS Level 4) + Leave loading, Super + NFP Salary Packaging. Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing an engaged and diverse team of 6-8 support workers, including performance, rostering, WHS, training & recruitment, to deliver personalised supports and services at your designated ICLA residence
  • Building the capacity, routine, social skills & independent living skills of ICLA residents
  • Overseeing implementation of high-quality resident support plans & weekly planners (including IPRPs), & monitoring & reporting on the progress of clients
  • Building rapport & managing complex mental health & behaviours by following established plans
  • Participating in rotating On-Call roster by phone (paid allowance)
  • Ensuring the smooth running of the site and promoting an inclusive, homely environment through consistent practice & collaboration with staff & residents.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a motivated individual with well-developed capacity to manage the competing demands of a busy environment, work to deadlines and maintain attention to detail. The person needs to have highly developed communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with staff and internal/external stakeholders.
Required criteria:

  1. Cert 4 or above in Mental Health, Disability Support or similar field
  2. Demonstrated experience with complex mental health & behaviours, in residential services, mental health or psychosocial disability roles.
  3. Understanding of, and experience applying, person-centred active support and the principles of resident choice and control, a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches to service delivery.
  4. Demonstrated experience in managing & leading small diverse team(s), including experience with rostering.
  5. Excellent stakeholder and consumer engagement skills, and experience building trust & rapport
  6. Experience in conflict management, de-escalation, incident management and prevention.
  7. Knowledge & understanding of NDIS code of conduct and NDIS scheme, including Supported Independent Living and Individual Living Options.
  8. Proven organisational skills, including managing competing priorities to deliver results to target
  9. Proven critical thinking, record keeping and risk assessment skills.
  10. Demonstrated high level of discretion, as well as a robust understanding of, and commitment to, professional boundaries.
  11. Empathy, patience, adaptability &
  12. Unrestricted rights to work in Australia Current driver’s license, NDIS check, and First Aid, or willingness to obtain

Desirable:

  • Mental Health First aid certificate
