Background

HarvestPlus improves nutrition and public health by developing and promoting biofortified food crops that are rich in vitamins and minerals, and providing global leadership on biofortification evidence and technology. HarvestPlus works across CGIAR as part of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI).

HarvestPlus and HarvestPlus Solutions are seeking a connected, experienced Resource Mobilization Consultant to identify new funding opportunities and enhance donor-facing written materials with fresh ideas.

Specific Deliverables

Donor Prospecting and Cultivation: Collaborate with HarvestPlus’ resource mobilization and partnerships team to prospect and cultivate funding opportunities from diverse donors, including institutional foundations, select corporations, family foundations, and global platforms. Specific deliverables include:

• Scan funding environment and contacts for new potential funders
• Develop a presentation to the resource mobilization team on donor-specific strategies, including cultivation and solicitation processes for “best bets” in the philanthropic corporate sector based on research and exploratory meetings
• Contact and cultivate new potential donors; maximize select strategic opportunities
• Identify donor meetings and events where HarvestPlus and HarvestPlus Solutions leadership can participate and speak publicly
• Prepare recommendations on how HarvestPlus and HarvestPlus Solutions can frame its work on popular topics among donors, such as gender, climate, sustainability, and women’s reproductive health

Proposal Writing: Collaborate with HarvestPlus’ resource mobilization team and project staff to support HarvestPlus and HarvestPlus Solutions to develop compelling materials and presentations in line with donors’ objectives. Specific deliverables will include:

• Draft and review proposals, concept notes, and expressions of interest
• Prepare research profiles and briefs on prospective donors
• Develop pitch presentations
• Develop content to support successful donor material preparation and submission

Required Qualifications

• Masters degree, plus 15 years of experience in resource mobilization and fundraising in the international development space; alternatively, a Bachelors degree plus 17 years of related experience
• Strong written communication skills; experience writing proposals, concept notes, and donor reports
• Professional interpersonal communication skills; be able to represent HarvestPlus and HarvestPlus Solutions in meetings with donors

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of biofortification and complementary nutrition solutions
• Experience with resource mobilization for an organization focused on agriculture, nutrition, and/or climate change
