JOB OVERVIEW:
Envision yourself as an integral part in preserving and restoring natural areas for the benefits of the flora, fauna, and future generations! This position is responsible for the management and restoration of the natural features on District lands and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Hackmatack Wildlife Refuge. See yourself conducting outreach to underserved communities through existing partnerships, conducting biological inventories, designing and implementing natural habitat restoration projects, conducting follow up management on remnant natural communities and previously completed natural habitat restoration projects, and monitoring natural features on District lands as assigned.
What are we looking for? We are looking for an individual with considerable knowledge in the area ecological principles, Midwest natural communities, and natural history. Additionally, an individual with a Bachelor’s degree (B. A./ B.S.) from four-year college or university in biology, ecology, zoology, or a natural resource related field and four (4) years related experience working in a natural resource management program; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
As for certifications, preferably the individual would hold current certifications in prescribed burning (NWCG S130 and S190) and USDA Pesticide Operator’s License or be willing to achieve within one year of date of employment. Furthermore, bilingual in Spanish preferred, but not required.
Special note, due to funding, this is a there year position.
