Job description
- Award: General Retail Industry Award 2020, Retail Employee Level 6 MA000004 with a 15% loading ($31.81 per hour).
- Superannuation: 11% of salary.
- Leave entitlements: 4 weeks annual leave pro-rata. 10 days annual sick leave pro-rata.
- Hours: Minimum of 22 hours negotiable (min 2×4 hour shift in the shop), remaining hours are flexible, including the ability to work from home.
- Position: Permanent, part time position (3 month probation).
- Responsible to: The Board of Only Just Fair Trade Inc.

We are passionate about fair trade and share a love for our hand-crafted items, the people who make them and the stories that surround them. We partner with communities from over 30 developing countries to source unique, handmade, ethical products. Our artisan partners are skilled in traditional crafts and produce high quality items through sustainable and ethical practices. Only Just is open 7 days a week , 362 days a year.
Role
The Retail Manager would need to understand our point of difference in the retail space and have a strong commitment to social justice. Understanding our mission, volunteer base, fair trade practices, suppliers and products is key to successfully managing Only Just and helping it thrive.
The Retail Manager should have excellent communication and people management skills as well as a sound understanding of the principles of fair trade.
In addition to this, the manager will need to show very strong retail system and website e-commerce knowledge and management using systems such as Lightspeed, Shopify and payment gateways (PayPal, Square).

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- Proven ability to manage a retail shop to a high standard.
- Experience with or detailed knowledge of Fair Trade practices to enable sourcing, managing and developing supplier relationships; thus ensuring a varied supply of quality products.
- Excellent communication skills with proven ability to manage people, in a retail setting, to a high standard.
- Proven ability to provide excellent customer service and resolve issues.
- Very strong skills with point of sale systems such as Lightspeed and payment gateways (PayPal, Square).
Desirable skills
- Working knowledge of other applications such as e-commerce website (Shopify), social media (Facebook, Instagram), editing programs (Canva), Google Workspace, Xero and Microsoft programs or proven ability to quickly learn.
- Strong personal commitment to social justice values.
- Proven ability to create, build and maintain relationships and networks with a varied audience, such as staff, volunteers, board members, customers, suppliers and Centre Management.
- Maintain and update the shop’s website or proven ability to quickly learn.
