About the roleHours: 15 hours per week, usually worked 2 out of 7 days and to include bank holidays and weekends.Our retail outlets provide 29% of much needed income to the hospice. This is vital to be able to provide the much-needed care to the people of North Derbyshire. The hospice has 15 retail shops plus a furniture warehouse, a donation centre, two clearance shops and two coffee shops. We also have an online eBay/Amazon platform and an online furniture store, It’s a big operation!We are looking for a Retail Sales Assistant to join our retail team. The retail sales assistant will support the Retail Manager and team with all aspects of running the Ashgate Hospice shop, situated in Alfreton. The role will involve managing staff, stock control, preparing products as well as the training of volunteers.This job role is hard work, enormous fun, hugely satisfying and very fascinating. This is a job that doesn’t have that Monday morning feeling and you will go home feeling happy that you did a great job for an amazing charity!   • To ensure that the high standard of service to customers that is expected by the Ashgate Hospice shops is maintained at all times.
  • To actively support, any fundraising promotions as directed by Ashgate Hospice or your manager.
  • To implement any promotion in the shop as directed.
  • To support the training, development and motivation of a team of staff and volunteers.

You will be responsible for ensuring the shop is safe, clean and well presented and making sure our customers have a great experience.Skills and experience required:

  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to adapt to different customer challenges
  • Ability to multi task and manage conflicting priorities and targets.
  • Knowledge of cash handling/banking protocol
