To design, implement, and monitor a Responsible Sourcing Framework within India’s plastic recycling ecosystem by establishing a National Consortium on Responsible Sourcing, facilitating multi-stakeholder engagement, and executing targeted remediation action plans across key recycler hubs. The project aims to enhance transparency, traceability, and accountability within the plastic recycling value chain, foster stakeholder capacity building, and promote sustainable sourcing practices aligned with global best practices. By the end of the project, the initiative seeks to:
1. Develop a robust Responsible Sourcing Framework tailored to the Indian context and aligned with international standards.
2. Establish a governance structure for the National Consortium on Responsible Sourcing, comprising key industry stakeholders, NGOs, brands, and government representatives.
3. Facilitate the deployment of two pilot remediation action plans targeting selected recycler hubs to assess framework implementation and identify areas for scale-up.
4. Build capacity among recyclers, aggregators, and brand partners through targeted training, live demonstrations, and certification programs to standardize responsible sourcing practices.
5. Monitor and evaluate project impact through data-driven reporting, including quarterly progress reports, midline and endline assessments, and a final knowledge dissemination report to inform future responsible sourcing interventions in the plastic recycling sector.
