What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that.
Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Being the focal point for enquiries and issue reports on the path network, and identifying
    the most appropriate response.
  • Preparing and arranging for an annual programme of maintenance in liaison with contractors,
    volunteers and other stakeholders, as well as leading on capital funded works.
  • Managing a budget and ensuring works are prioritised appropriately in accordance with the
    available budget.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will
really help if you:

  • Can communicate effectively and appropriately at all levels
  • Have a HND level or equivalent in countryside management or related subject
  • Have experience of working in the outdoors, and can read maps
  • Have knowledge of Rights of Way and maintenance techniques
  • Can prioritise and plan workloads to cope with competing deadlines
