Position Summary
This position provides intravenous administration of medication, blood products, chemotherapy and immunotherapy to patients. Our oncology infusion nurses work alongside a comprehensive group of cancer care leaders who are on the leading edge of cancer research, prevention, detection, and treatment.

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directs and/or provides patient care which may include administering medication, chemotherapy infusions, performing procedures, and monitoring patient status.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of chemotherapy drugs and supportive therapy for our patients. Incorporates this knowledge of Oncology to customize the care for each of their patients personal care needs.
  • Provides accurate counsel and education to patients and/or family regarding their disease process and symptom management.
  • Maintains required skills and competencies and participates in educational programs and obtains OCN certification within 2 years.
  • Communicates effectively using positive verbal and nonverbal communication skills with all members of the health care community to ensure optimal patient outcomes and altering plan of care as needed.
  • Works with clinical nurse coordinators and physicians on development and selection of appropriate patient interventions.
  • Demonstrates appropriate interpersonal relationships with supervisors, co-workers, physicians and employees of other departments.
  • Able to adapt and provide support in diverse situations dealing with patient and family dynamics as they struggle with the diagnosis of cancer.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of oncology experience preferred.
  • ICU experience is a plus.
  • Two years of med/surg nursing with a strong desire to work in oncology.  Fellowship provided.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Current RN Licensure in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on work location, in accordance with Compact Act; Basic Life Support certification. Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements.

Salary Range
$28.65 – $49.82 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
