Duties and Responsibilities
The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (UN Human Rights) is the leading UN entity on human rights. We represent the world’s commitment to the promotion and protection of the full range of human rights and freedoms set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The OHCHR Indigenous Peoples and Minorities Section (IPMS) works to advance the protection and empowerment of indigenous peoples and minorities with a view to ensuring the full realization of all human rights.
The work of IPMS includes coordination of the UN Network on Racial Discrimination and Protection of Minorities(the “Network”). It also includes discrete work activities and expected outcomes set out under Annual Work Plan 2023.
IPMS seeks IC support for tasks as set out below (1) in support of IPMS work plans in the area of Roma rights and Roma inclusion; (2) to advance IPMS’s programmatic support for the voice of minority artists; (3) to undertake related work in the field of anti-discrimination law and minority rights.
Qualifications/special skills
Advanced degree in Law, Human Rights or similar field is required.
At least 2 years of relevant work experience
Languages
Fluency in English and Spanish. Knowledge in French or another UN language is an advantage.
