The Partner Recognition and Impact team in the Private Sector Communication and Engagement Section at UNICEF’s Private Fundraising and Partnership (PFP) Division seeks the support of a skilled, experienced, and strategic communication professional to contribute to a range of partnership communication activities.

PURPOSE OF ASSIGNMENT

The consultant under this Roster will support the design and delivery of joint communication plans and frameworks for multi-country and global partnerships, including coordinating communication planning across multiple markets. The role includes facilitating partnership communication workshops, developing high-quality communication assets and materials, and managing reputational risks through proactive communication strategies. The consultant will also oversee the rollout and implementation of these communication assets and frameworks in collaboration with markets.

This entails close collaboration with National Committees and country offices to mitigate reputational risks, contribute to the prevention of public relations crises, and work with internal and external stakeholders to successfully manage responses to reputational issues for UNICEF’s private sector financial and non-financial partnerships with business, foundations, high-net-worth individuals, and membership-based and faith-based organizations.

OBJECTIVE

The primary objective is to establish a Roster to streamline and accelerate the hiring of Communication Consultants by the Partner Recognition and Impact team, in order to fulfill our contractual obligations to showcase partnership recognition and the impact of UNICEF’s programmes.

MAJOR TASKS TO BE ACCOMPLISHED

• Develop communication packages e.g., press releases, social media assets, key messages, Q&A documents, talking points etc. for multi-country partnerships, in close collaboration with communication focal points from relevant National Committees, regional, and country offices.
• Organize and facilitate communication workshops/meetings for stakeholders in order to develop partnership communication frameworks and plans.
• Manage reputational risks relating to partnerships through communication strategies.
• Oversee the implementation of agreed communication plans and activities across countries, ensuring alignment at the global, regional, and national office levels between UNICEF and partners, including coordination across relevant teams and offices as required.
• Support the partnership communication requirements of new high-value partners and participate in meetings to facilitate overall alignment across workstreams and offices at the global, regional, and national levels.

Responsibilities of the Consultant:

• The consultant will use their own equipment; laptop, software and other accessories that may be required for this task.
• regular liaison with manager and communication specialists (Team Leads) and any related units.

Responsibilities of UNICEF:

• UNICEF will provide all details pertaining to the activity and the requirements
• UNICEF will orient the consultant on UNICEF’s branding guidelines
• UNICEF will share the documents and specifications with the consultant as he/she becomes available and will coordinate the timely delivery of work

There is a possibility of travel during the assignment on a per need basis and this will be covered separately by UNICEF.

ESTIMATED DURATION

The Roster has validity for 3 years. However, UNICEF does not guarantee that any quantity of services will be purchased during the term of the Roster as this will depend on forthcoming needs.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

• Advanced university degree (Master’s degree of higher) in Marketing, Communications, Business, Social Sciences, Arts, or related fields. A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or higher), in combination with qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Experience:

• A minimum of five years’ progressive experience in the following fields: Communications, Public Relations, Account/Client Management, Sales, Marketing, Fundraising, or Advertising is required.
• Experience working in partnership contexts, including on customer-facing partnerships, is required.
• At least two years of experience at an international level is desirable. Previous regional or country office experience is an asset.

Language:

• Fluency in English is required.
• Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is considered an asset.

Others:

• Demonstrated ability to write press releases, develop communication plans and familiarity with social media as a marketing tool are requirements.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision is required.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Familiarity with UNICEF and its systems and ways of working is an advantage.
• The successful consultants will work mainly with countries in Europe and time zones will be taken into consideration.

Remarks:

Sample works can include communication plans, communications frameworks, social media plan and assets, press releases or articles written, key messages, Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ), briefing notes or talking points. At least 3 samples of previous work must be provided. Applications submitted without at least 3 samples of work will not be considered.
4. A financial proposal indicating professional fee as per the above template. Please do not forget to specify your name in the file while saving. (to be uploaded online under “Financial Proposal” tab).

Without all the above 4 documents, your application will be considered incomplete and invalid and will not be considered further.
