Our Assertive Outreach Rough Sleepers Initiative (RSI) teams work across the Local Government areas of Yarra, Melbourne, Port Phillip, Stonnington, Dandenong & Frankston and are configured into 3 inter-connected teams in order to best provide responsive and persistent assertive street based outreach and mobile assessment, with the skills and expertise to respond to the housing, physical and mental health needs of the client group; while facilitating engagement and a culturally sensitive service response.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

As Coordinator – RSI, you will have responsibility of supervising and leading a team of Assertive Outreach workers who provide assertive and persistent outreach to identify, engage, and work with clients to achieve sustainable housing & health outcomes.

You will reinforce an intentional approach to the provision of both reactive and proactive outreach, focusing especially on providing consistent crisis responses and planning with clients to address immediate accommodation and health needs, making plans with clients around their longer-term housing needs, and for the application of consistent assessment practises to inform referral to support and housing services for clients of the program.

YOU WILL BE:

  • Providing effective leadership and coordination to the RSI teams, to ensure the delivery of consistent and high-quality programs and services across all relevant service areas.
  • Providing supervision and performance development of staff in accordance with relevant Launch Housing policies and procedures.
  • Ensure onboarding and induction of all new staff is completed in a compliant and timely manner.
  • Ensuring a consistent and best-practice approach to initial and risk assessments, service planning, prioritisation & referral, and championing the use of the VI-SPDAT tool.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (KEY SELECTION CRITERIA):

  • A current Victorian drivers license.
  • Program or service coordination experience within the community and/or public sectors.
  • Significant experience in the delivery of assertive street-based outreach to at-risk cohorts.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues which those experiencing homelessness confront, and skills and aptitude in working for people who are marginalized and disenfranchised.
  • Experience supporting staff who work with people with complex needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide professional supervision that is supportive and promotes professional development and accountability.
  • Demonstrated understanding of housing and homelessness policy, context and systems, including the Opening Doors Framework.
  • Leadership qualities including a high degree of initiative, integrity and accountability.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values of Launch Housing and our mission to end homelessness.
