We are seeking to grow our research program in in vitro approaches to inhalation toxicology testing and respiratory disease mechanisms.  To help grow these efforts, we are Tissue Engineering Technician with excellent cell biology skills to contribute to this exciting area of research. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and have a passion for applying cellular and molecular biology expertise to tissue engineering innovations. This position provides an opportunity to work collaboratively in a dynamic research environment while supporting projects that bridge fundamental science and translational applications. The Tissue Engineering Technician will also provide administrative and logistic support for laboratory research operations and project management. 

Responsibilities

You will work closely with senior researchers in various areas, including Cell Biology & Tissue Engineering, where you will perform advanced cell culture, particularly with primary human endothelial and epithelial cells, to develop and maintain 3D co-culture systems. You will also conduct molecular and cellular assays, such as viability/cytotoxicity assays, immunostaining, qPCR, ELISA, and western blotting, to evaluate cellular responses in engineered tissues. Additionally, you will help characterize the development and function of tissue-engineered models, focusing on aspects like barrier integrity, signaling pathways (e.g., NF-kB), and extracellular matrix remodeling.

 

In terms of Research & Innovation, you will assist in developing in vitro vascular and respiratory models for disease mechanism studies, therapeutic testing, and environmental exposure analyses, while contributing to the integration of data-driven approaches for biomarker discovery and analysis. For Lab Operations, you will manage lab equipment, maintain inventory, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations. You will also help develop and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) for tissue preparation and cell-based assays.

 

Finally, in terms of Collaboration & Communication, you will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including data scientists, engineers, and external academic and industry partners, and actively participate in lab meetings, present data, and contribute to manuscript preparation and grant writing efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, biology, or a related field with strong cell biology experience.

• Applicants must have 2–5 years of hands-on experience in academic or industry settings working with mammalian cell cultures.

• Expertise in mammalian cell culture, including primary and immortalized cells, with a preference on experience in human cell-based systems.

• Proficiency in cellular and molecular biology techniques, including ELISA, qPCR, immunofluorescence, and protein assays.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to independently plan and execute experiments.

• Effective communication, time management, and interpersonal skills to thrive in a collaborative research environment.

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience with tissue engineering and/or co-culture techniques.

• Familiarity with developing 3D tissue models for vascular or pulmonary research.

• Knowledge of statistics and data analysis tools for interpreting experimental results.

• Prior experience contributing to research publications or grant proposals.

• Exposure to machine learning or computational approaches for data-driven biomarker discovery.
