JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The SAFE-T Center within the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing at the Pennsylvania State University is currently seeking candidates for a Research Project Manager position.  

 

The Sexual Assault Forensic Examination Telehealth (SAFE-T) Center’s mission is to partner with communities to enhance access to quality sexual assault forensic nursing care. Housed within the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing at the Pennsylvania State University, the SAFE-T Center has developed an effective model for delivering 24/7 expert Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) consultation and support via telehealth technology to health care professionals in rural and underserved communities. SAFE-T conducts research to understand the impact of the program on nurses, patients, and communities, as well as the quality of care provided and short- and long-term patient outcomes. 

 

Responsibilities 

This Research Project Manager position’s primary responsibility will be to oversee a longitudinal, NIH-funded research to study the impact of quality telehealth sexual assault care on adolescent health and well-being. The research PM will assist the SAFE-T Center Principal Investigator (PI) and the Research Associate (RA) in the organization, planning, and execution of SAFE-T research objectives. The Research Project Manager has two primary responsibilities: (1) to provide project management for SAFE-T research studies, and (2) to oversee the data management plan and data collection efforts.  

 

Related duties include: 

  • Managing project timelines, goals, and deliverables  

  • Creating agendas and keeping meeting minutes 

  • Tracking research progress, decision-making, and updates  

  • Monitoring adherence to Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocols, federal grant requirements, and data security and privacy protection 

  • Management of IRB study protocols, including development new protocols, modification of current protocols, and submitting IRB continuing reviews 

  • Data management including tasks related to data collection, data structure/format, coding, review, entry, verification, validation, auditing, query and report generation 

  • Collaborating with partner sites to gather participant data at regular intervals 

  • Creating procedures to identify potential data problems and elevating concerns to supervisor and principal investigator 

  • Creating technical documents detailing defined procedures  

  • Creating and implementing training sessions for research staff 

  • Monitoring research staff Citi training  

  • Other duties as assigned such as assisting with manuscript preparation and submission, citing references, literature reviews, and grant proposals 

 

Position requires a master’s degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational training in Nursing, Human Development, Family Studies, Psychology, Social Work, or other related discipline is preferred. Knowledge of managing research and evaluation programs is desired. The individual in this position should be able to quickly learn about the SAFE-T Center program and research goals. This role must be able to work independently and collaboratively with the project team. This individual must be able to track long-term projects and effectively manage multiple parties contributing information. Prior experience with data collection is desired. The successful candidate will possess strong written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and be able to work efficiently and effectively in both independent and collaborative situations. Preference will be given to individuals who have experience with evidence-based intervention programs and practices, knowledge of sexual assault, trauma, and interpersonal violence.This is a remote position that does not require relocation. However, the position does require occasional travel related to research data collection, special events, meetings, and/or presentations requiring in-person presence. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to background clearances. This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

Selection is dependent upon successful accomplishment of background and clearance checks in accordance with Penn State Policy. This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
