Job Title: Global Surge – Safeguarding Advisor – Global Surge Team (x2 positions)
Job Location: UK Flexible (Remote). Homeworker with deployment up to 75% of the year (Home or International)
Salary: £42,923 (this includes £6,000 market supplement) per annum
Contract Type: x2 years Fixed Term Contract

Could you support National Societies meet minimum operating standards for safeguarding prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse? (PSEA)

Could you deliver practical support, coaching and mentoring for partner National Societies with a focus on PSEA and Child Safeguarding?

A day in the life of a Safeguarding Advisor – Global Surge Team will involve:
  • Develop partnership relationships with National Society leadership and focal points.
  • Influence a range of stakeholders to support the effective implementation of safeguarding strengthening programmes.
  • Co-lead safeguarding organisational assessments and report on findings and recommendations.
  • Facilitate development of National Society safeguarding action plans.
  • Provide specialist advice and practical support for policy development.
  • Support the development of procedures for investigation and responding to safeguarding concerns.
  • Support National Society focal points regarding safeguarding risk assessments and implementation of mitigating measures.
  • Provide practical advice and support for implementation of mitigating measures.
  • Capture evidence and learning including through development of anonymised case studies to support teams to learn.
  • Facilitate peer learning through national and local networks, peer support meetings and IFRC Safeguarding Hub engagement.
To be a successful Safeguarding Advisor – Global Surge Team, you’ll need:
  • A significant understanding of international safeguarding, particularly PSEA and Child Safeguarding.
  • Knowledge and understanding of international humanitarian issues and associated good practice, including minimum standards.
  • Proven project management skills, with a particular focus on interpersonal skills,coordination, organisation, and planning.
  • Significant experience in PSEA and/or child  protection as part of design and/or delivery of humanitarian projects/services.
  • Experience in direct support to survivors of violence, exploitation or abuse.
  • Some experience of providing safeguarding within a UK or international organisation.
  • Proven experience in working with partner organisations through a localisation approach.
  • Experience of developing an evidence base (including case studies) and generating, documenting and sharing the resulting learning.
  • Able to deploy to work/travel in remote and unstable areas.
  • Able to travel regularly and operate in a physically demanding working environment.
  • Contribute to a culture of safeguarding and protection from sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment.
