Islamic Relief Worldwide is actively recruiting for the position Safeguarding Officer to be based from its office in Birmingham, UK.

The Safeguarding Officer holds a multifaceted role, ensuring the organization’s commitment to values such as fairness, humanity, honesty, and respect is upheld. Key responsibilities encompass policy development, offering technical guidance, training, and effective case management. They would play a crucial part in policy compliance and review, ensuring adherence to sectoral standards, and contributing to the development of safeguarding infrastructure and processes.

This would include receiving and processing safeguarding concerns and complaints, maintaining effective record-keeping, and facilitating the investigation and case management procedures.

Additionally, the Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the Safeguarding Team with activities such as safeguarding training, data analysis, reporting, and the creation of resources.

The successful candidate must have or be:

  • Possession of a relevant degree suitable for the broad scope of the role.
  • Good knowledge and experience of Safeguarding, PSEAH, and Child Safeguarding.
  • Background in an INGO setting or equivalent.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, country offices, and external partners.
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong organisational skills, diligence and reliability, ensuring the delivery of high-quality work.
  • Proven ability and experience in analysing data to derive sound conclusions and recommendations.
  • Experience in managing relationships and navigating challenging situations.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in their work
