Your team
Within the Directorate Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre, the “Safety, Quality & Security (SQS)” service manages MUAC’s safety, quality and security processes. The service is also responsible for activities required to develop and maintain the MUAC Management System including the monitoring of its operation. It ensures compliance with the applicable regulatory requirements.
Your role
Your role will be to:
Support the development of safety management processes and procedures in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Perform operational and technical safety assessments (functional hazard assessments, human factors assessments, failure mode, and effect analysis, etc.).
Analyse applicable safety regulations and ensure compliance of all MUAC’s business domains.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safety requirements are integrated into system design, development, and operational processes.
Conduct internal and external safety surveys and audits to evaluate, review and improve processes.
Prepare and present safety-related subjects (e.g., safety case reports) to various (internal/external) audiences.
Analyse safety data, incident reports, and safety-related feedback to proactively identify areas for improvement and implement risk mitigation strategies.
Develop training material, guidelines, templates, etc., and participate in the delivery of safety-related training.
Participate and represent MUAC in projects, working groups, and meetings (internally and externally) and contribute with expertise to various initiatives.
Contribute to projects and support different quality initiatives by assessing their progress, execution and completion.
Foster a strong safety culture within the organization by promoting safety awareness and accountability at all levels.
Carry out any other task in line with the main purpose of the job.
Completed university studies of at least 4 years in a relevant domain (e.g., engineering, human factors, etc.) followed by a minimum of 2 years of working experience.
Experience in safety management or safety engineering roles preferably within safety-critical environments (i.e., aviation, nuclear power).
Knowledge of safety management systems (SMS), safety analysis techniques, and risk assessment methodologies.
(Technical) drafting and presentation skills in English.
Understanding/Knowledge of the EU and EASA-related ATM/ANS Regulation would be considered an asset.
Commitment to stay up-to-date with applicable safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices related to air traffic management.

The selected candidate will be offered a contract of 5 Year(s) and it may be renewed up to a maximum of 9 years or converted into an undetermined contract pursuant to the provisions of the Conditions of Employment of Contract Staff at EUROCONTROL. Before being established in the post, he/she will be requested to provide certified copies of his/her degrees and successfully serve a probationary period of 9 months.
The successful candidate shall be engaged in principle at the basic grade of the advertised grades.
Candidates declared suitable who are not selected for the post will be placed on a reserve list for similar roles. The reserve list will be valid for one year from the closing date of applications.
