We are currently recruiting a Sanctions Compliance Coordinator to join our Office of the General Counsel.

This is a remote position, open to candidates in RI countries of operation.

About the Opportunity.

The Sanctions Compliance Coordinator works closely with the General Counsel to ensure sanctions policies and procedures are implemented in accordance with Relief International’s internal polices, and relevant laws and requirements.

Your role will involve advising departments and country offices on compliance, and supporting with risk management. You will also work closely with internal stakeholders to support license application/renewal processes and mandatory reporting to appropriate regulatory agencies.

Your responsibilities will be

  • Support the General Counsel in ensuring that sanctions policies, processes and practices are implemented in the organization in accordance with internal policies, applicable laws and donor requirements.
  • Support the General Counsel to ensure that sanctions risks are identified, assessed and managed.
  • Support the General Counsel in advising departments, country offices and teams on compliance with sanctions regimes, reporting requirements and associated risks.
  • Understand sanctions compliance requirements of jurisdictions relevant to the operations and activities of Relief International (including, US, UK, France, EU, UN and various donor countries), and stay current on key sanctions regulatory updates from relevant authorities (including, among others, US OFAC, UK OFSI, EU and UN).
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to support license application/renewal processes and mandatory reporting to appropriate regulatory agencies.

About You.

You will bring the following experience and skills.

  • Substantial demonstrated experience with US Office of Foreign Assets Control regulations, as well as working knowledge of UK, UN, European and other government sanctions regimes.
  • Track record of achievement in a previous, similar role.
  • A recognized Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent relevant working experience focusing on sanctions compliance.
  • Excellent relationship management skills and proven experience interacting across functions and geographies, and building constructive partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Self-initiative and positive attitude in learning and willing to acquire new knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to communicate in English in all forms (written, verbal, negotiation, presentation skills, etc.), and to summarize and synthesize complex information from multiple sources.
  • Ability to articulate sensitive, complex or potentially contentious issues in a constructive manner and propose appropriate solutions.
  • Strong organizational analytical and administrative skills, including a strong ability to focus on detail and quality assurance.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet challenging deadlines and quickly react to changing demands.
  • Willing to be available for meetings that are scheduled before or after home time zone normal business hours.
