The Role
This is a high profile, externally facing team, with responsibility for the global influencing agenda, which will actively engage in global politically linked engagements on development, humanitarian and global issues. This team will coordinate and lead the development of a proactive global policy and advocacy agenda in order to unify and amplify our strategic voice and influence across all thematic areas and contexts, while ensuring consistent and coherent external representation. By fostering collaboration within the organisation and engaging effectively with international bodies and influencing spaces including UN, Gulf and African Union, we aim to establish Save The Children as a key partner in shaping international norms and influencing national policies. Our work supports and enhances the movement”s local to global advocacy efforts, ensuring our message and tactics are consistently applied, and our high-level external engagements reflect a unified stance.
This role supports the development and facilitation of policy positions, analysis and supporting material. The role will also support the communication and understand of policy positions and provide expert advice on policy positions to drive global advocacy.

Hybrid – Washington DC, Fairfield, CT or Lexington, KY office locations

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

- Support the development and facilitation of policy positions and analysis ensuring alignment with Global strategy and 3 year PAC plan.
- Engage with internal and external experts to drive a collaborative approach to policy development and implementation processes.
- Support or directly produce key policy positions, analysis and supporting material (including reports, briefs, messages) across development, nexus and humanitarian context and informed by current trends and evidence.
- Support the communication and understanding of key policy positions.
Required qualifications for the role
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated ability in steering complex policy analysis initiatives to drive global policy and advocacy initiatives.
- Able to synthesise complex information from diverse sources, develop comprehensive policy positions and briefs and other advocacy material.
- Policy Development & evidence-based research and analysis
- Research across development, nexus and humanitarian context
- Proven ability to identify the need for enhanced collaboration for better results.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strategically important relationships and foster collaborations that amplify impact for children in critical areas.
- Ability to strengthen capacity on key priority policy and advocacy issues
- Ability to understand, communicate with, and effectively interact with people across cultures.
- Demonstrated leadership in designing inclusive practices for policy analysis and development, ensuring that diverse voices and perspectives are integrated into advocacy efforts.
- Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
Preferred qualifications for the role
- Advanced degree in a relevant field such as International Relations, Law, Politics, Social Sciences, or related discipline.
- Additional language of French, Spanish or Arabic preferred
