CHILD SAFEGUARDING: 

Level 2: either the post holder will have access to personal data about children and/or young people as part of their work; or the post holder will be working  in a ‘regulated’ position (accountant, barrister, solicitor, legal executive); therefore a police check  will be required (at ‘standard’ level in the UK or equivalent in other countries).

 

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Award Impact and Proposal Development Officer will assist the Head of Resource Mobilisation with day-to-day tasks related to the efficient operation of the New Business Development (NBD) Department.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

 

 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Resource Mobilization Officer is crucial in supporting the organization’s growth and impact. The core responsibilities include:

  1. Updating Relevant Tools and Platforms:
  • Collaborate with the Head of Resource Mobilization to maintain and enhance the New Business Development (NBD) pipeline.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to donor engagement and funding opportunities.
  • Keep the NBD SharePoint up-to-date with the latest documents, versions, and tools.
  • Share monthly pipeline updates with relevant departments, providing valuable insights and analysis.

 

  1. Award Impact Coordination:
  • Work closely with the Head of Resource Mobilization to measure the impact of strategic opportunities.
  • Participate in After-Action Reviews to learn from past experiences and improve our approach.
  • Coordinate with the Awards Management team to ensure accurate project information is maintained in SCI’s Awards Management System.
  • Facilitate project overview presentations during project kick-offs.

 

  1. Proposal Development & Fundraising:
  • Assist the Head of Resource Mobilization in coordinating high-quality proposal development processes.
  • From the initial Go/NoGo stage to final submission, ensure proposals meet donor/member requirements.
  • Track and assess donor intelligence to identify prospective funding opportunities.

 

  1. Safeguarding Considerations:
  • Ensure that Safeguarding resources, activities, and considerations are integrated into the day-to-day work of the NBD Department.
  • Demonstrate professional safeguarding behavior consistently.
  • Uphold the organization’s values and code of conduct.
  • Report any potential safeguarding breaches, concerns, or red flags to the Safeguarding focal point persons.
 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • A minimum of three years demonstrated experience in an NGO or similar environment, ideally with experience developing programs for children in both emergency and development contexts.
  • Practical experience in leading or supporting the coordination of proposals for a variety of institutional (e.g BHA, FCDO, ECHO, SIDA, BMZ, DFAT, GAC, USAID etc.) and non-institutional (e.g. corporates, trusts, philanthropic) donors.
  • Excellent personal organizational skills including time management, the ability to set and meet deadlines and work under pressure, and ability to adapt and respond to unexpected changes in schedules and timeframes.
  • Ability to work within a multicultural setting with a highly diverse team.
  • Fluency in spoken English, with exceptionally strong writing skills.
  • Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values, and principles.
  • Computer literate (including working knowledge of Microsoft Office) and ability to do internet-based research.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively.
  • Proven ability to handle the challenging workload.

Desirable

  • Good knowledge of current political, social, economic, and humanitarian affairs in Iraq.
  • Awareness of the landscape of implementing partners and government structures in Iraq or the Middle East.
  • Excellent coordination skills and willingness to grow professionally in the sector.
  • Good written and spoken Arabic.
