About the opportunity

The School Attendance Support Program (SASP) is an innovative program delivered across government primary schools within City of Casey and Cardinia Shire. The program supports at-risk young people to engage in education, with the aim of improving school attendance and facilitating student, family, school and community integration.

As a SASP Practitioner, you will work collaboratively with primary schools to identify and engage at-risk students with significant school attendance issues. The role will provide intensive short to medium-term case management support to referred children and families, assist them to explore barriers to regular school attendance, and develop strategies to overcome these barriers.

About you

To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a degree qualification in social work, psychology or a related discipline.

You will also have:

  • Demonstrated case management experience within the child, youth and family welfare sector
  • A strengths-based, child-centred approach to case management
  • Knowledge of child development and the barriers experienced by disengaged learners
  • Strong risk assessment and risk management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
