STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: Major in public administration, development, International Relations, Public Relations, Communications, Political Science, Social Science, Management, or other relevant fields.
• Experience & Skills: Strong analytical skills, Independent and teamwork capabilities, excellent problem-solving skills, positive attitude, and a keen interest in international humanitarian development. Proficiency in Excel and infographic software is essential.
• Competencies: Strong written and verbal communication skills, quick learning and adaptation to UN/WFP processes, analytical and interpretative skills, and the ability to propose solutions.
• Languages: Fluency in English required. French language skills are an asset.

JOB PURPOSE

The selected candidate will assist in the management of school canteens in the four WFP sub-offices.

 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

1. Ensure timely delivery of food to sub-offices in liaison with the logistics unit.
2. Carry out regular analysis of the Pipeline and define the needs by sub-office to develop the Food Release Notes (FRN) and the Food Transfer Notes (FTN).
3. Follow up on the delivery to the canteens every quarter in liaison with the sub-offices.
4. Participate in monthly reviews of the non-food items/inventories in the stores.
5. Systematically monitor the expiry dates and quality of food to attract the attention of the canteen manager in time for a decision to be made.
6. Contribute to the organization of capacity-strengthening workshops related to school feeding.
7. Participate in the various committees and meetings of the country office.
8. Assist in the correct archiving of programmed documents; and
9. Support to develop an integrated school feeding approach with clear linkages between school feeding, resilience, nutrition, and other programmatic areas.
10. Undertake analysis and documentation of the impact of school feeding in Guinea for use in advocacy with the government and donors for support to the development of a national school feeding programme.
11. Any other duties as required.

 

Supervision:

The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the Head of Programme and the direct supervision of the Programme Policy Officer, School Feeding.

Training Components and Learning Elements:

Interns will have access to WFP’s WeLearn platform, offering a wide range of learning opportunities. Depending on availability, participation in one full day orientation session, WFP workshops, seminars, and field missions may be offered. By the end of the assignment, the intern is expected to enhance their performance management skills, data analysis capabilities, understanding of WFP field operations, infographic drafting skills, and interpersonal skills required for working in a dynamic and multicultural environment.

 

This relates to the following:

Monitor training on school canteens and related indicators.
Attend the training on school canteen management committees.
Attend training and research on malnutrition and its typology.
Attend the training and research on Cash-Based Transfer (CBT).
Learn the calculations on rations per beneficiary and school.
Perform any other training as requested by the Supervisor.
Obtain the certificates on the WFP Mandatory courses.
Take the Integrated Road Map (IRM) training.
Follow the training on Gender with the Gender focal point (Gender-Marker and GaM).
Attend the M&E training with the M&E section.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

• Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
• WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
• Depending on the duty station of assignment, WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
• WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
