THE OPPORTUNITY

This opportunity involves you providing specialist school nursing services for students with disabilities and complex health needs and their families within the Support School setting. You will work in partnership with students, families and carers together with the wider community and other agencies to meet health, development and safety needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be welcomed into a highly supportive team-based environment and have opportunities to contribute to achieving the wider goals of the School Health Nurse Program. This might include active involvement in clinical education, clinical management, safety and quality and practice development.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve, but are not limited to:
- Providing sound clinical practice in the management of health care interventions and emergency situations.
- Managing a caseload of students with long term and life limiting conditions and disabilities.
- Planning and delivering information sessions and training to colleagues, educational staff, carers in relation to children who have additional health needs.
ABOUT YOU
The successful applicant will have either nursing experience in a school setting, or in a relevant area e.g. paediatric or emergency nursing. You will have a genuine interest in health promotion and student welfare, well developed interpersonal and communication skills.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
You will be required to:
- Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment).
