About the opportunity

The School of Nursing invites applications for an Assistant Dean of Prelicensure Programs with a faculty appointment as an assistant, associate or full clinical professor. This position is a full-time, benefits-eligible, 52-week position with a starting date of summer/fall, 2024 or until the position is filled.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Dean, Prelicensure Programs for the School of Nursing has responsibility for the School’s undergraduate, prelicensure academic programs. The Assistant Dean reports directly to the School of Nursing Dean/Associate Dean in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences.  The Assistant Dean is responsible for oversight of the strategic direction, vision, leadership, undergraduate curriculum, regulatory compliance and quality improvement process for the undergraduate programs.  The incumbent approves the hiring of part-time didactic and clinical faculty and oversees the evaluation process of faculty responsible for undergraduate education. The Assistant Dean will take the lead on program reviews and American Associate of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) accreditation and annual program evaluations as well as the oversight of the undergraduate programs catalog and enrollment activities. The Assistant Dean is integral to supporting and carrying out the strategic plan of the School, College and University in relation to professional and interprofessional initiatives, mentorship of faculty, faculty scholarship, and service.

Qualifications 

Qualifications require a degree in nursing and earned doctorate in nursing, education, public health, or other related field by the start date of the appointment, eligibility for an unrestricted RN licensure in Massachusetts, proven teaching excellence in undergraduate nursing, and demonstrated excellence and commitment to supporting a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment. The candidate should possess effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with proven leadership experience in a major academic setting; experience in preparation in teaching and learning principles including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation. The incumbent should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in curriculum development and an understanding of nursing accreditation standards.
