At Swift Nature Camp, we don’t just teach kids about the outdoors; we live it. We are looking for passionate, adventurous, and curious leaders to join our team as Science & Nature Camp Counselors. This is your chance to ignite a spark of wonder in a new generation, helping them discover the secrets of the forest, the thrill of the trail, and the joy of being unplugged.

The Role: Your Office is 1,000 Acres of Wilderness

As a Science/Nature Counselor, you aren’t just a “chaperone.” You are a mentor, an explorer, and a guide. You will be responsible for:

• Leading Discovery: Transform our Nature Center into a portal of wonder. You’ll care for our camp animals (rabbits, snakes, turtles, and more!) and lead hands-on activities like pond dipping, star-gazing, and insect identification.
• The Adventure Trip Leader: Gear up and head out! You will lead small groups on
• Adventure Trips—from canoeing pristine Wisconsin waterways to backpacking through hidden forest trails. You’ll teach the “Art of the Wild”: fire building, navigation, and Leave No Trace ethics.
• Science Made Fun: Forget the textbooks. You’ll lead “Backyard Science” experiments that actually matter—studying local ecosystems, bird watching, and understanding the delicate balance of our Northwoods home.
• Building Community: You are the heart of your cabin. You’ll foster a safe, inclusive environment where kids can be themselves, gain independence, and build lifelong friendships.

Who You Are

• A Nature Advocate: You have a genuine love for the outdoors and aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty (or your feet wet).
• A Natural Leader: You enjoy working with children and have the patience and energy to keep up with a group of active campers.
• Curious & Creative: You see a fallen log and see a teaching moment. You can turn a rainy day into an epic science experiment.
• Experienced: Previous experience in camping, environmental science, biology, or outdoor education is a huge plus.
• Ready for Adventure: You are physically capable of hiking, paddling, and sleeping under the stars.
