About us/place of employment
The Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences at the University of Copenhagen is where education and research in the fields of biotechnology, plant science, and environmental sciences meet – from the molecular scale to entire ecosystems. The goal of the department is to create essential and excellent research and courses within these areas and to strengthen the interdisciplinary collaboration between them. In the section for Section for Plant Biochemistry we carry out basic research across in the spectrum of plant biochemistry and translate the findings into biotechnology-based solutions.
The recruited special consultant will be embedded in the Group of Biochemical Engineering, under the leadership of Prof. Sotirios Kampranis. The scientific focus of the group is to promote sustainable living by replacing harmful chemical synthesis and over-harvesting of natural resources with biological synthesis.
Tasks of special consultant in the group of Biochemical Engineering
Generally, the tasks of the special consultant in the group will be to coordinate the group members and assist the activities of the group, from scientific to administrative matters.
Your task will include:
- “Biochemical engineering” group coordination and management
- Assisting in supervision of master and PhD students in the group
- Assisting in writing of grant applications
- Assisting in writing of scientific manuscript
- Assisting in teaching in the section of Plant Biochemistry
- Responsible for the communication and coordination with the financial management team of PLEN regarding the grants of the group
- Coordination with the KU HR teams on matters regarding group members.
What we expect from the applicants:
- Applicants should be fluent in both spoken and written English.
- Applicants should be able to prove scientific experience in topics such as Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Metabolic Engineering, or Biochemistry.
- Applicants should have an MSc (or PhD) degree in relevant topics, such as Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Metabolic Engineering, Enzymology, or Biochemistry.
- Experience in Science managing, and management and coordination of scientific groups
Terms of salary and employment
The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 2 years. The starting date, optimally, is April 1st, 2024, after agreement. The employment and salary are made in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
Employment will be as an academic special consultant, TAP-AC. The salary is based on seniority. Negotiation for a salary supplement is possible. The working time is 37 hours per week on average. The working hours are flexible. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.
UCPH is in the process of designing a new shared administrative organisation at UCPH, which is expected to lead to changes within the next 12 – 18 months. The purpose of the administrative reform is, among other things, to strengthen cross-organisational cooperation, increase efficiency, and ensure good career paths for administrative staff members at UCPH.
