Scientific Officer- Agronomy

ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the position of Scientific Officer Agronomy to be hired under Digital Agriculture to support activities of carbon farming in Global Research Program on Resilient Farm and Food Systems. The incumbent will be based in Odisha. This position is responsible to supervise and execute Rice field operations, soil profiling, data recording and management in the field activities, greenhouse gas sampling for incentivizing farmers for regenerative agricultural practices.

Responsibilities:

? Supervise and execute rice field operations, soil profiling, data recording and management in the field activities

? Manage greenhouse gas sampling to incentivize farmers for regenerative agricultural practices

? Monitor field activities and carry out crop improvement tasks as directed by supervisor

? Executing crop operations as per schedules and specific tasks entrusted by the Team Coordinator.

? Completing tasks consistently and safely through varying situations and factors

? In addition to the above, any other responsibilities as entrusted by the supervisor

Essential criteria:

? M Sc. Agriculture with specialization in Agronomy or related field from reputed institute with more than 1 year of agricultural related experience.

? Essential experience in on farm agriculture related work like conducting on farm demonstration, greenhouse gas sampling, capacity building or any other.

? Proficiency in Odia & English (written and spoken both mandatory).

? Person with flair for field work, group interactions and suitable experience will be preferred.

? Willing to travel across the districts of Odisha and should have valid driving licenses.

General:

This is a contractual position for a period of 24 months.
