Your new job

The Scientific Writer will join the Research Division of Orygen Digital. This position will work directly with the Chief of Orygen Digital, Professor Mario Alvarez-Jimenez, to assist with a range of academic administrative tasks.

Reporting to the Chief, Orygen Digital, you will:

  • Assist with preparing, drafting, and coordinating competitive grant applications and scientific articles and other relevant publications that involve the Chief.
  • Support the maintenance of databases related to systematic reviews and assist with preparing, drafting, editing, and coordinating scientific articles other relevant publications that involve the Chief.
  • Maintain, coordinate, and edit CVs, Endnote libraries, and databases pertaining to grants, publications, and presentations for the Chief of Orygen Digital.
  • Liaise with Orygen and Orygen Digital staff on a range of research matters, including publication and conference presentation information.

What you’ll need

You are passionate, energetic and determined to make a difference to health and wellbeing outcomes for young people.

The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:

  • A tertiary level qualification with Honours in any health discipline with relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in medical/science writing and a demonstrated track-record drafting high quality research papers.
  • Experience or knowledge of the purpose and conduct of scientific research that includes writing of high-quality systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
  • Well-developed, demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated initiative and flexibility to prioritise work based on academic timelines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, particularly in relation to the management of data. Strong ability to perform online literature reviews.
