Physical Requirements | Moving and lifting objects from floor to above shoulders, standing/walking with objects up to 25 pounds. Standing and sitting at computer terminals and laboratory bench completing repetitive tasks for extensive periods of time. Occasional job related travel. |
Shift | Primarily day shift. Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Some evenings and weekends are possible. |
Job Summary | The Department of Surgery in the College of Medicine is seeking a Scientist I. This start-up lab will focus on understanding how innate immune cells regulate the tumor microenvironment, control metastasis and treatment response. The over-arching goal is to discover novel pathways that can be leveraged for cancer therapeutics. Our multidisciplinary approach will incorporate mouse models, immunohistochemistry, flowcytometry, molecular signaling, metabolomics, spatial transcriptomics/proteomics and RNA sequencing. As a new lab, this employee will play a pivotal role in shaping the lab culture and scientific direction. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic, stimulating and collaborative environment. This position will work closely with the Principal Investigator in setting up the lab, performing experiments and data analysis. |
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | Proficient with writing and completion of IACUC compliant small animal care; Advanced lab skills; scientific writing and editing. |
