DESY
The DESY group “Information Technology” (IT) is participating in a variety of high profile national and European projects, evaluating new and innovative IT technologies. One of the key projects we are involved in is “EOSC Beyond”, which aims to enhance the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) by offering advanced scientific services accessible to researchers across Europe. This initiative brings together over 30 esteemed European scientific institutions, universities, and SMEs. The goal is to expand the EOSC network by integrating specialized scientific software with a flexible execution framework. This integration will enable the use of this software in a versatile and modular manner. To realize this ambitious objective, we’re seeking a scientist who possesses expertise in domain-specific scientific software packages and/or frameworks. Additionally, the ideal candidate should be driven to contribute to the development of these technologies within the evolving EOSC framework.
About your role:
- You will develop new software or update existing software to integrate them into a federated and modular environment
- You will contribute to the overall architecture of the thematic and national EOSC nodes
- You will participate in regular project meetings, workshops and conferences, both online and in person
- You will contribute to regular reports towards the project management and the EC
About you:
- You have completed a master’s degree in computer science, physics, mathematics or related subjects, or comparable knowledge
- You have good knowledge of a modern computing language
- Familiarity with modern cloud infrastructures, such as OpenStack and Kubernetes, is beneficial
- Previous experience in large-scale projects involving geographically dispersed teams will be an asset
- Knowledge of web technologies will be advantageous
- You are a collaborative team player who enjoys working in large, international teams and is open to travel
- You have good spoken and written command of the English language
Look forward to a unique working environment on our international research campus. Respectful cooperation and the well-being of our DESY employees are particularly important to us. Gender equality is an important aspect for us. To support work life balance we offer flexible working hours, variable part-time, job-sharing models and participation in mobile work (up to 50%). You will benefit from our family-friendly and collegial atmosphere, our established health management and occupational pension provision. As a public funded employer, we offer you a secure workplace and facilitate your individual career with our comprehensive training and development opportunities. Remuneration is according to the regulations of the TV-AVH. DESY offers its employees a financial supplement for a German job ticket at both locations.
