THE ROLE

The position of Lead Developer is to facilitate, support and lead the internal development of core systems and services. These tools form the base of our success in ecommerce, retail and back end functionality. The Lead Developer will be an integral part of the Omni Channel team, delivering against business objectives and supporting on-going change and improvement across multiple platforms.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and mentor a team of technical individuals with various backgrounds (back-end developers, integration developers and BI developers)
  • Leading the design, build and modification of new and existing solutions to deliver against the business needs and requirements.
  • Providing strong technical guidance to the team and working alongside the technical leadership team, product owners and project management to ensure the team delivers against agreed business requirements.
  • Remaining current with development best practice and latest technology trends and bringing these learnings to life within the team.
  • Provide high level estimates and project planning. Facilitating regular sprint planning and supporting the team to plan and estimate the project tasks and delivery dates
  • Troubleshooting and monitoring our systems and work collaboratively with the team to resolve and prevent any defects, risks, or issues, whilst keeping key stakeholders updated with progression.
  • Be a key contributor to identifying risks, understanding the impact, and liaising with the business and technology teams to put robust controls in place.

TOOLS OF THE TRADE

  • Excellent knowledge of Agile principles, methodologies and tools (Jira, Azure DevOps)
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills. Writes detailed, well thought out, logical and well-presented documentation suitable for consumption by all in a professional organisation,
  • Excellent oral and presentation skills.
