Job description

The post holder will work in cross-functional agile teams and perform a range of activities which help ensure the operational effectiveness and excellence of the organisation through identifying, defining, and validating internal and external changes.

The post holder will play a key role in solutions delivery by shaping features and backlog items from idea to implementation and supporting the agile team to understand them fully and articulate them clearly.

Improving, designing and documenting data mapping, workflow and processes. The post holder will make appropriate recommendations that will positively impact operational effectiveness, the design and implementation of IT systems and maximise value to service users.

They will be highly motivated, innovative and organised, contributing to development of the Business Analysis chapter, ensuring analysis is delivered to the highest quality and delivers true benefit to the organisation.

The Business Analysis Service are part of the wider IT Solutions Directorate and are a team of Lead Business Analysts, Senior Business Analysts and Business Analysts delivering business transformation. Our work covers all services, systems and processes across King’s, is varied, demanding but exciting.

The role will be based in our IT department at Lavington Street on our Guys Campus but will also require working extensively with stakeholders across King’s.

This post will be offered on a permanent basis

This is a full-time hybrid post and offer a split of time spent in the office and at home, with minimum in-office time of 5 days per month

Skills, knowledge, and experience 

Essential criteria  

  • Relevant work experience and/or education: We think a wide range of different work and educational experiences could support you to be successful in this role. Relevant work experience might include work in other educational settings or large complex organisations. Relevant educational experiences might include higher education in a related discipline, professional qualifications or other training. 
  • Excellent business analysis skills with practical application in a complex multi-stakeholder environment  
  • Experience of requirements elicitation and management through the lifecycle of waterfall projects and shaping features and backlog items within a cross-functional agile team 
  • Demonstrable process reengineering experience 
  • Experience of data analysis, modelling & capturing data requirements  
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving capability  
  • Comprehensive experience of planning, managing and controlling business analysis work  
  • High level of presentation skills and the ability to communicate confidently with colleagues of a similar and sometimes more senior management status.  
  • A team player who influences without authority and builds strong working relationships – strong interpersonal skills including motivating, negotiating, influencing, and networking 
  • A demonstrated flexibility and positive attitude towards delivery of services in a fast-paced environment with inherent risks and stakeholders with differing views of success 
  • An analytical mind and a keen problem-solver 
  • An innovative and proactive approach to work  

    • Desirable criteria

  • Agile and/or Business Analysis certification 
  • BPMN, Lean Six Sigma or other process modelling/improvement-related qualification 
  • Experience of planning and managing business change 
  • Experience of working closely with a Product Owner as proxy
