Anticipated Start Date: July 2025
Location: Mound City or Selby, South Dakota
Overview: In partnership with the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks (GFP), the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and local Pheasants Forever chapters; this position will coordinate and implement wildlife-related conservation programs and provide technical assistance. Work in joint capacity with PF, NRCS, and GFP to promote, coordinate and implement conservation provisions of the Federal Farm Bill and other related wildlife conservation programs. Duties will include wildlife habitat planning, contract coordination, writing plans, site assessment and reporting. Provide technical assistance for wildlife habitat and grazing enhancement techniques to private landowners and public organizations. Meet with local chapters of Pheasants Forever to help coordinate and influence habitat management efforts and participate in county and statewide habitat meetings. Implement specific conservation programs to improve wildlife habitat.

Location Description:
Mound City and Selby, South Dakota are both small rural communities located in North Central South Dakota. Campbell and Walworth counties provide excellent hunting opportunities for a variety of upland species including ring-necked pheasant and sharp-tailed grouse, as well as big game species including white-tailed and mule deer. World class fishing and recreational opportunities await along the Missouri River less than 30 minutes from each town. Amenities offered in Mound City are limited with only a restaurant. Larger towns of Herreid (10minutes), Eureka (25 minutes), and Mobridge (30 minutes) all provide grocery stores, gas stations, restaurants, hardware stores, and K-12 schools. Selby is slightly larger than Mound City, and offers a gas station, hotels, restaurant, K-12 school, medical clinic, and general and hardware stores. Additionally, Mobridge is an easy 25 minute drive from Selby for additional resources.
Training and Experience Guideline: Any combination of training and/or experience that will enable the applicant to possess the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A Bachelor of Science Degree in Wildlife Management or closely related natural resources field is required.
Starting Salary: $40,000-$49,000 depending on experience + benefits (see our benefits summary at www.pheasantsforever.org/jobs)
