Location: This position will primarily be based out of the Menomonie office with 3 weeks spent working out of the Bayfield office.
Seasonal Period: 13 weeks beginning approximately May 19th, 2025, and ending August 15th, 2025. 12 weeks of paid work and one week of unpaid vacation available.
Organizational Information: Landmark Conservancy is a private, non-profit conservation organization serving 20 counties in northwestern Wisconsin. Landmark fulfills its conservation mission by working with private landowners who wish to conserve their land in perpetuity. We also work with local governments, state, and federal entities to create public nature preserves and trails for all to enjoy. Landmark has conserved over 43,000 acres in our 30 years of land protection work. Landmark Conservancy is an accredited organization by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, indicating that Landmark has demonstrated sound finances, ethical conduct, responsible governance, and lasting stewardship of the organization’s conserved lands.
Position Summary: Landmark Conservancy seeks a compassionate, skilled, and dynamic individual to join our team as a Seasonal Stewardship Technician for the summer of 2025. The Stewardship Technician will work directly with the conservation team out of our Menomonie office. We also anticipate three weeks being spent working out of our Bayfield office. Primary responsibilities will be to assist with the stewardship of our conservation easement and nature preserve portfolio as well as with community engagement events. Duties occur in both the field and in an office setting.

Working Conditions:
Work will primarily be performed outdoors with approximately 25% of the time spent in an office setting. Field work will occur at times on steep and brushy terrain as well as buggy wetland areas in a variety of weather conditions. The applicant must be able to lift/carry stewardship equipment and hike moderate distances off-trail. The position will require use of a walk behind brush mower, leaf blower, brush saw, chainsaw, and a variety of hand tools under supervision of Landmark staff. Some travel is required to various locations in the region, and mileage reimbursement will be provided when use of a personal vehicle is unavoidable. Most work sites will be within an hour of the Menomonie office, although some longer trips may be necessary. Occasional night and weekend availability may be required.
