Summary

Baylor College of Medicine – Department of Medicine, is the largest adult clinical department at BCM with more than 600 faculty, 220 resident trainees, and 180 clinical fellows, and close to $90 million in total research funding in 2022. The Department of Medicine is conducting a national search to identify the new Section Chief of Hematology and Oncology. The ideal applicant should be a physician investigator at the Associate/Full Professor level with a track record of leadership and mentoring and excellence in clinical care, education, or research. The successful applicant will lead the section through oversight of clinical, research, education, and financial operations at Baylor medicine and three academic sites Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC), the Harris Health Ben Taub General Hospital (BTGH) and the Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center (BSLMC) and develop a vision for expansion of the clinical and research faculty including programs of excellence that further distinguish Baylor amongst peer institutions in the US.

 

The Section, as part of the Dan L. Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center, has several NIH and foundation research grants, as well as clinical and translational research studies. Research is conducted in collaboration with world renowned Departments of Molecular and Cellular Biology, Immunology, and Genetics at BCM.

Minimum Qualifications

The candidate should be an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. with interests in clinical, teaching and research.
