The role

As Section Head of our Rangelands Project Management team, you will manage a small team of Project Managers to drive project management & client engagement outcomes for existing and new carbon farming projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Meeting agreed targets for new carbon project Registrations
  • Keeping teams engaged, informed and on task as most work remotely.
  • Presenting carbon farming opportunities to land managers and the broader industry.
  • Regular travel to support the team, engage with rural communities and develop projects.
  • Work with Climate Friendly’s internal service teams to assess eligibility, quantify carbon potential, develop project implementation plans and collate data for project registration, project audit and continued project management.
  • Solving problems for clients through investigating issues, evaluating options, and communicating solutions to clients.
  • Developing and reviewing farm management plans to ensure carbon projects are being managed in line with method requirements.
  • Maintaining records in our customer relationship management system
  • Creating and updating projects in Asana
  • Completing basic/intermediate QGIS mapping tasks as necessary
  • Leading the Rangelands Project Management team, including; recruiting, managing, leading, training and coaching team members to extend individual skills and achieve overall team and personal development objectives.
  • Translating business Unit KPIs into KPIs for the section,
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring best practices that meet the sections objectives.
  • Monitoring section budget and daily operations, identifying risks and addressing potential roadblocks.
  • Developing systems and processes to streamline carbon project management to facilitate sustainable portfolio.
  • Working with internal communication team and the ACCU trading team to ensure products are marketed and promoted effectively for optimal financial return for clients.
  • Developing and managing key relationships that support rural land manager engagement.
  • Maintaining strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including clients, industry regulators, government departments, Aboriginal Corporations, and other partner organisations
  • Motivating the team through creating and maintaining a positive culture where team members live our values

About you

  • Qualifications/lived experience in fields related to Natural Resources/Environmental Science or Agriculture, customer engagement and securing service agreements.
  • Experience leading and managing remote teams.
  • An understanding of sustainable land management strategies and the Agricultural sector, with the ability to communicate key principles with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with proven ability to build effective relationships across business units.
  • Ability to work on multiple priorities and tasks is essential.
  • A strong interest in environmental and public good outcomes.
  • Capacity to travel for fieldwork, and experience working/travelling in regional and rural locations.
  • Understanding of the Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI) Act and the suite of revegetation methods would be considered very beneficial, but not necessary.
  • Comfort with Microsoft suite, CRM systems. Basic/intermediate skills in mapping systems like QGIS and/or willingness and capacity to quickly upskill in this space is desirable.
  • You will be required to become an authorised representative under Climate Friendly’s Australian Financial Service License and undertake mandatory financial training each year.
