Placing women’s rights at the centre of all its efforts, UN-Women will lead and coordinate the United Nations System’s efforts to ensure that commitments on gender equality and gender mainstreaming translate into action throughout the world. It will provide strong and coherent leadership in support of Member States’ priorities and efforts, building effective partnerships with civil society and other relevant actors. The UN Women Security & Safety Services within the Division of Management and Administration reporting to the Executive Director, is responsible for all aspects of security and safety management for UN-Women.
Under the direct supervision of the Country Representative Sudan and the Regional Security Specialist for Africa, the Security and Safety Specialist for East and Southern Africa (ESA), is primarily responsible for all aspects of the UN Women Security and Safety services for Sudan. The Security and Safety Specialist is to advise, assist and support UN Women Sudan Country Office and additional UN Women field offices throughout Sudan and UN Women Security Field personnel with regard to their security and safety responsibilities. The responsibilities are aligned to UN & UN Women security policies, procedures and guidelines to minimize the risk to UN Women personnel, property, and operations in the field while at the same time enable UN Women programme delivery throughout the organization.
The position duty station will be Port Sudan, Sudan, whilst the incumbent will be required to complete mission travel as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide technical support, guidance, and advice to Country Office and Sudan field offices:
Oversee security assessments and take necessary action:
Liaise with and participate in the local and regional security community:
Collect, update, and communicate security information:
Develop, maintain, manage and implement the UN Women Sudan Country Security Plan, including updating personnel lists:
Monitor, manage and implement UN Women compliance of the Security Risk Management Measures (SRMM) established for the duty station/s:
Report security and safety incidents affecting UN Women personnel, programmes, offices and assets:
Develop and conduct training courses on security and safety awareness, preparedness, mainstreaming, BCP and specialized functions:
Manager the Security Budget and Finances:
Perform other security-related tasks including but not limited to:
