Job Summary

Work in direct support of the Samaritan’s Purse (SP) Sinjar Iraq Community Center, abiding by the SP code of conduct. Responsible for providing (unarmed) security for Samaritan’s Purse personnel and property, as well as related tasks assigned by the management. Exhibit a generous and serving spirit while performing all duties and responsibilities.

 

Job Duties:

  • Control entry of vehicles and people into Community Center, to include directing the flow of crowds of people during distribution of goods. Ensure that all incoming cars and personnel are checked as instructed by the security department
  • Maintain all assigned devices and technical tools for the job
  • Patrol a perimeter fence (inside and outside)
  • Monitor CCTV to detect possible security threats
  • Assist with manual tasks around the compound as instructed by the Program Manager and Security Manager.
  • Report any suspicious activity or security incidents that may impact SP programing, asset, and staff to the security coordinator.  
  • Report any on-site security threats and physical site security deficiencies or vulnerabilities.
  • Warn staff when imminent threat is observed that would possible impact staff.
  • Participate in ad-hoc, and annual safety and security drills on site and outside of duty locations, as requested from the respective supervisor.
  • Adhere to the SPI security guard’s manual..

  11. Willingness to travel if needed (SP works at locations throughout northern Iraq)
  12. Willingness to work in a field environment (including extended periods outside in extreme temperatures, rain, and dust)
  13. Willingness to work in different shifts while being attentive and vigilant.
  14. Knowledge of Sinjar City security context as a native to the region preferred.

           

Education / Experience Needed

Previous experience in a security position, preferably with an NGO.

 

LANGUAGE

Kurdish/ Kurmanji and Arabic required (spoken and written), English desired, but not required
