World Vision – Iraq Office is looking for a highly qualified and motivated person for the position of Security Guard – Ninewa

 

Purpose of Position:

To support field staff, in ensuring that effective security safety measures for the field offices are appropriately planned for and addressed within the national context. 

The position will lead to ensure the security and safety of facilities and assets.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES

SECURITY GUARDS DUTIES AND PROTOCOLS

 

Dress and discipline

  • Security guards are to report to work in a smart and clean appearance.
  • Security guards are not to drink alcohol within the 8 hours prior to coming on duty.
  • Security guards are not to drink alcohol or take drugs whilst on duty.
  • Security guards are to be always punctual.
  • Security guards are accountable for any security equipment that has been issued to them by WV
  • Security guards are not to sleep while on duty.
  • Security guards are not to leave the compound while on duty except to patrol the outside compound perimeter.
  • Security guards are to be friendly and helpful but are not to carry on lengthy conversations with staff or visitors while on duty. Brief conversations during rounds are OK but the guard should still be alert.

General duties

  • Security guards are to ensure all buildings and offices are secured at the end of the working day.
  • Security guards are to ensure access control to the compound for visitors/contractors.
  • Security guards are to ensure access and control to the compound for approved vehicles only.
  • Security guards are to report anything suspicious immediately to the relevant WV security officer/manager or the police.
  • Security guards are to be fully aware of what to do in an emergency.
  • On completion of his or her shift, the guards are to brief the incoming guard.
  • Security guards are to report any attempted break in or intrusion into the compound to the police immediately and WV security officer/relevant manager at the location.
  • Security guards are to raise the alarm and call the fire brigade in the event of a fire being detected.

Patrolling

  • Security guards are to patrol the compound at irregular intervals.
  • Security guards are to carry a whistle when patrolling.
  • Security guards are to inspect the compound perimeter fence for damage or signs of forced entry.
  • Security guards are to report any faulty security lightning at the end of their shift.
  • Security guards are allowed to vacate the compound if they feel that their life is in danger but should immediately contact the WV security officer/relevant manager or the police.

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

  • At least three (3) years of progressive work experience in a proven security field (public, private, and government or NGO sectors)
  • Experience in operating in high security risk environment / armed conflict situation.
  • Experience of incident reporting.
  • Excellent coordination and cooperation with staff.
  • Experience in generator maintenance and operation.
  • No previous criminal record or convictions.
  • High school or minimum secondary degree is required.
  • Valid passport and driving license.
  • First aid training.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure (particularly in a crisis)
  • Practical knowledge of tools, mechanisms, and procedures for personal and organizational security
  • Demonstrated personal values, attitudes and behaviors that are consistent with World Vision Core Values Evidence of the following is desirable:
  • Police/Law Enforcement or military training.
  • Advanced Degree in Security Studies or related subject.
  • Radio and/or Satellite phone communications experience, operations and management
  • First Aid qualified
     

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement:

No travels are required for the position.

 

Language Requirements:

Arabic:

Fluent in spoken Arabic – particularly in a crisis situation; good understanding of written Arabic.

 

Kurdish (incl. local dialects):

Fluent in written and spoken Kurdish (both dialects) – particularly in a crisis.

 

English:

Understand, read, and write.
