The purpose of the Security Officer position is to ensure the security management guaranteeing the safety of national and expatriate teams, equipment and buildings of the SIF in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq

The Security officer is based in Erbil and reports to the HOM and/or HQ security focal point.

Responsibilities

  • He/she is in charge of the safety of SIF teams, equipment and buildings in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).
  • Ensures the implementation of the PROTOCOLS security measures and protocols throughout the mission
  • Ensures the capitalization and archiving of documents and security management tools throughout the mission
  • Ensures the drafting of the documents of the security pack of the SIF in coordination and technical validation of the security referent of the headquarters.
  • Ensures geopolitical and security monitoring based on a solid formal and informal network allowing him continuous analysis of the situation that he shares with the HOM, the Desk and the security referent of the headquarters.
  • Participates and represents the SIF in meetings dedicated to the security of humanitarian actors and SIF partners.
  • Ensures the writing and regular distribution of weekly and monthly safety reports
  • Manages security incidents in collaboration with the HOM, in coordination with the Headquarters Security Focal Point.
  • He/she Is responsible to build active networks together with current safety/safety information with monitoring ongoing security developments using open source and network intelligence.
  • Supervises and conducts security assessments and the implementation of mitigation measures according to the SIF protocols in all bases and areas of action of the SIF;
  • Supervises and coordinates the security validation of the field missions of the SIF teams by the security assistants in all the bases and areas of activity of the SIF;
  • Ensures security briefings for any new SIF employee and HQ visitors/consultants in Iraq (national and expatriate staff);
  • Proposes and then ensures the implementation of contingency and evacuation plans for expatriate and national staff relocated.
  • Manages the security guards at the country office, guesthouse and the bases of the SIF: briefing, planning, follow-up, supervision, performance interview, reinforcement of technical knowledge, regular meetings, etc.
  • Evaluates the performance of its team members regularly, before the end of the trial period and before the end of their contract.
  • Defines and updates the training plans of its team and monitors the impact of training;
  • Provides coaching and appraisal of the national security guards.
  • Ensures the development of training modules and implements them with drivers, guards
  • , and operational teams.
  • Any other related tasks or support needs to support the other SIF teams for helping activities implementation.
  • Ensure the submission of access letters in both GOI and KRI and relevant letters to local entities.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • A university graduate in the security and risk management-related professions.
  • Minimum experience: At least 3 years of experience as a field security officer in an NGO.
  • Knowledge of issues in the Iraqi context is an asset.
  • Language level: Fluent and written competency in English, Arabic and Kurdish languages is required. some competency in French is an advantage.
  • Software level: Knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and internet search methods.
  • Knowledge of standard security documents: contingency plan, risk analysis, …
