Background:

The Gender, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (GEDI) Unit is a strategic unit and organizational change lever responsible for developing a GEDI vision and strategy for the IRC, and empowering IRC departments to deliver on the DEI Strategy and the GEDI Action Plan. The Unit establishes IRC’s approach to GEDI to strengthen our teams, program quality, and influence foundations through a feminist lens.

Job Overview:

Reporting to the Chief GEDI officer, you will serve as GEDI advisor for the IRC Global Headquarters team and be responsible for the implementation of our Global GEDI learning and training strategy and support effective knowledge management. This includes creating content for a diverse group of senior leaders and staff to build GEDI related skills and practices and leading on community of practices.

This is an exciting opportunity to advance IRC’s feminist commitments across our people, operations, and program delivery efforts by supporting our staff and leaders to embed feminist practices in their roles, the workplace, and within their teams.

We are looking for a creative, solutions-driven gender equality, diversity, and inclusion expert with deep experience in implementing change. In particular, translating feminist principles into organizational and operational policy and practice to reach impact at scale.

Major Responsibilities:

Technical HQ support:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to and collaborate with People and Culture (P&C) partners to provide ongoing support to the Global HQ leaders in developing and leading activities to strengthen inclusion and belonging of underrepresented and marginalized staff.
  • Partner with HQ P&C Partners to support devising and implementing the best strategy to increase diversity and inclusion at management and leadership levels.
  • Lead on piloting and scaling GEDI flagship programs that have evidence-based impact on IRC staff and clients and provide technical support to strategic global and regional GEDI initiatives as needed.

Learning and knowledge management:

  • Lead all aspects of the delivery of the GEDI learning strategy and curriculum including creating and delivering GEDI learning content by collaborating with the global learning and development team and the GEDI team.
  • Collaborate as needed with regions, teams, and offices for contextual adaptation of GEDI learning courses and materials and provide support on the application of intersectional feminist lens to learning and development needs and solutions as they are brought to or arise within P&C GEDI and other departments as needed.
  • Maintain an updated understanding of the industry and relevant sector practices, leading on the design and implementation of a robust knowledge management strategy including identification, documentation, and cross functional/cross regional sharing of effective practices to advance IRC’s GEDI ambitions.
  • Partner with the learning and development team to Implement GEDI learning data analytics and reporting system that helps assess uptake and impact of GEDI learning opportunities.

Direct Reporting: Chief GEDI Officer

Job Requirements:

Education: Graduate degree or years in additional work experience

Work Experience**:** 8 + years of related experience that includes:

  • Direct experience leading, influencing, and partnering with organizational stakeholders to adopt feminist, diversity, and inclusion principles as core to all organizational processes, policies, programs, and activities.
  • Experience leading knowledge management and building communities of practice.
  • Experience working in two or more of the regions where IRC operate globally locations is ideal.

Demonstrated Skills And Competencies:

  • Deep commitment to and knowledge of strategies to advance gender equality diversity and inclusion in a range of sectors and geographies is ideal.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying intersectional feminist lenses to one or more of the following areas: Employee life cycle, Safety and security, Learning and development, leadership development, HR operations and, workplace infrastructure, workplace culture, and humanitarian program design and delivery.
  • Experience in knowledge management and designing and delivering GEDI trainings.
  • Ability to engage, inspire action, and influence people outside of direct reporting lines.
  • Excellent communication skills, and ability to engage all levels of staff and leaders.
  • Able to work independently and efficiently in a dynamic and fast-paced multifaced environment.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems, as well as an understanding of adult learning theories and a working knowledge of instructional design methodologies to deliver effective solutions in a variety of formats, is a plus.

Language Skills:

  • Excellent spoken and written English and knowledge of one additional language (French, Spanish, Arabic) is preferred.

Working Environment:

  • Standard office work environment and eligible for remote work.
  • Some travel as needed up to 30%

Compensation:

Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
