About the role

The Senior Advisor, Policy (Masculinities) will report to the Manager, Policy, and contribute to the policy work of Our Watch, as well as to the broader work across the organisation that focuses on masculinities and working with men and boys in prevention.

This role will have a primary focus on masculinities-related work within the Policy and Government Relations Teams of the Government Relations, Policy, and Evidence Directorate, as well as supporting broader work across the organisation that focuses on addressing masculinities and working with men and boys to prevent violence against women.

The role will have a particular focus on monitoring and providing expert analysis and advice to help support Our Watch’s engagement in public policy processes and work with governments in relation to men and masculinities. You will work closely with the Principal Advisor, Masculinities, and the Innovation Directorate project teams to support the organisation’s broader masculinities work.

About you

The successful candidate will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant content area or field and/or equivalent experience, including public policy, social work, gender studies.
  • Understanding of what it means to take an intersectional approach to the prevention of violence against women and support stakeholders and partners to embed this approach in their work and communities.
  • Strong conceptual understanding of masculinities and the need to work with men and boys in the prevention of violence against women.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the current landscape of masculinities in relation to violence against women, gender equality or other relevant fields
  • Strong writing and communication skills are essential, as well as policy expertise and the ability to engage with government and non-government stakeholders across a range of settings.
