The Role

We are looking to recruit a Senior Analyst, Database Administration within our Technology Infrastructure team to take responsibility for the administration, support, maintenance, and continuous service improvement of our database technologies across the shore and ship estate. This entails design, development, and deployment across multiple technology stacks.

Setting the standard for how database technologies are operated by providing design and technical expertise, capacity management, reporting, and proactive and reactive operational support, as well as guidance, mentoring, and an escalation point for colleagues across the Technology department.

You Will

  • Provide SME input to all database technologies for operational and project delivery purposes, proactively reviewing database platforms to identify opportunities for continual service improvement
  • Proactively act as a senior escalation point, mentor, and guide to the rest of the Applications team, making decisions as needed to guide daily priorities. Support and build strong working relationships within Architecture, Security, and other Technology departments to ensure operational realities are considered throughout the technical lifecycle
  • Responsible for the smooth running of the production and non-production database environments, which includes SQL Server and Oracle databases across varying versions, Installation of DBMS software and creation of databases
  • Undertake reactive and pro-active maintenance of Carnival’s database estate, including incident resolution, fault-finding, resolving deadlocks, including problem management, database tuning and optimisation, tablespace management, patching, and capacity management
  • Act as a technical lead in all Database-related activities on all UK and Global cross-brand activities as well as operational planning conversations, working closely with external partners and third-party suppliers as needed

Our role categories range from CUK15 (entry level) to CUK1 (Brand President) so you can clearly see internal development opportunities. This role is a CUK08 and is offered on a full time, permanent contract basis}, with hybrid working in our Southampton office, 3 days per week.

About You

Fresh ideas and different perspectives are what excite us most and help us to succeed. Alongside bringing these to the role, you’ll also need:

  • Previous background supporting enterprise-level production databases
  • Experience with Oracle and Microsoft DBMS, SSIS and SSRS
  • Ideally had experience with tools such as Business Objects, Tableau or Data Warehouses
  • Demonstrated you have worked through change management experiences
